The US Car Industry Going, Going, Gone?

The Brits have long ago lost their thriving automobile industry.  Those famous marquees associated with the King and Queen of England are gone.  The Bentley has gone to German car maker Volkswagen.  The Rolls-Royce is now with BMW.  And so are the Rovers and the Jaguars.

Now, it looks like the same will happen with the US auto industry.  GM no longer holds the title as the largest car maker in the world.  It lost that year ago to the Japanese Toyota. And I’m afraid, unless there’s some financial bail out package granted by the US Congress in the same way they did with many giants in the money markets, I think GM and Chrysler will soon go the way of the dinosaurs.  They’d be lucky if Volkswagen or Toyota buys them.
