Racing – a genetic imprint?
Back in the 70s, at the height of the oil crisis that had gas rationing as an option to most consumers, I recall that many racing circuits and their events all but abandoned.
F1 and LeMans for a time had some seasons suspended. The last year saw oil hitting record highs that simply dwarfed the gas pump prices of the 70s. But did you hear F1 missing the beat because of some doomsday preaching to conserve fuel?
I saw none of that. Never again will the F1 be suspended. I guess the urge to race and push the speed envelope doesn’t obey any supply and demand law. It’s just in the blood. May be in the genes as well.
