Following the Brits

There’s hardly any British auto industry these days.  MGB is still around, but that isn’t exactly what I call an industry for a first world country.  And it certainly isn’t even a shadow of the once mighty and proud British automotive industry that thrived along with their German and Italian counterparts.

US car marks might not be so fortunate as to find benevolent companies to bail them out.

Everyone is reeling from the global financial woes. Even the very rich are not wont to show their generosity at this time.  How about the Japanese?  Toyota and Mitsubishi have a lot of partnerships with Detroit for some models, but they all have their anxieties.  Fiat is said to be talking with Chrysler.  I just hope that at the very least, the marks we have come to love will still be there 59 years from now.  Even from another hand in another land.
